Lively northern beaches, Portuguese-era churches and the slower, quieter coves of the south.

Kerala changes character every few hours of driving. Kochi is a layered port town of fishing nets, churches and spice warehouses; Munnar climbs into rolling tea estates; Thekkady smells of cardamom and pepper.
The journey ends slowly, on the backwaters of Alleppey, drifting through canals on a houseboat with meals cooked on board — the part of Kerala most people remember longest.
Pickup from Kochi airport and drive up to Munnar, stopping at Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls. Evening at leisure among the hills.
Eravikulam National Park (home of the Nilgiri tahr; seasonal closure in early spring), the tea museum, Mattupetty Dam and Echo Point.
Drive through cardamom country to Thekkady. Afternoon spice plantation walk; evening cultural performance is optional.
Drive to Alleppey and board a houseboat around noon. Cruise the backwaters with lunch, evening tea and dinner on board. Overnight on the boat.
Disembark after breakfast and drive to Kochi. Afternoon in Fort Kochi — the fishing nets, St. Francis Church, Mattancherry Palace and Jew Town.
Transfer to Kochi airport or railway station.
